Culture Jamming� The media may also be referred to as "god". After all, that is the role they play in relation to the general public� In specifically, the youth. They tell us what is 'cool' or 'in', what to like and buy. They use hidden messages ad twist words and images around so that we no longer associate items with what they really mean, but rather what the corporate community wants them to be remembered as. Even though the general public is brainwashed with these constant demands of human minds, not everyone falls into the trap. This is where Culture jamming comes into place. People will not just sit around and take the beatings from the media, they fight back now with the bullets of the enemy. ADVERTISMENTS SIGNS PHOTOS The same way that the media brainwashes us, we spoof them. Through photos, logos, and advertisements the true meanings of all that has been twisted is portrayed. Its insanity, the way our minds are so easily warped into what the world wants. Our own wants and needs our overpowered to the extent where we can't even call many thoughts our own. We hear GAP and we think of the store, not the real definition. We hear NIKE and we think of the shoes or long line of products, not the children who work for nothing to produce them. We hear OBSESSION and think of the perfume, not heart wrenching stories of anorexia or pain that comes hand in hand with an obsession. My question is simple, when will we get our hearts, minds, and souls back? |
