What is art? A very controversial subject that has raised debates and lit many minds a flame. I have had to put much thought into this question and have passed over many ideas as to what the answer could be. The best I was able to come up with is that art is whatever the heart and soul make and allow it to be. We as individuals are not qualified to determine what art is or is not, because to the artist it is art. |
Collage Creating collages may seem very simple but in reality they are fairly complex. Collages are a work of art that requires some thought into dynamics, placement, size, and contrast. The ideal collage will have a variety of image sizes. It will also have many lines, curves, and diagonals that carry your eye around the piece. Something that should be avoided is placing the focus point in the center or in a corner; asymmetrically placed objects are usually the most effective. Also, a contrast of colours and values are always beneficial. They add a certain pizzazz to the art. |
Shock art Shock art can be a very disturbing art form at times. The massacre of a cat videotaped, the vomit of an artist contaminated wit food colouring, and pornography just to name a few made the largest impact on my way of thinking. When I first heard of this I was livid at the thought that some may actually commit these crimes and acts of insanity and other call it art. I couldn't fathom why anyone would do such things, but then I thought back to the question, what is art? I had to stop and control my thoughts and feelings and focus on this question in relation to what I was hearing. Then it dawned on me, yes it is art. It's disturbing, shocking, and odd but that is what it was intended to be and those were the emotion it was intended to raise. |
